Youth Services & Technology Coordinator
LaFayette Public Library has a part-time position open for a Youth Services & Technology Coordinator. Come join our small and dedicated staff and make a real difference in the LaFayette community! The right person will be creative, enjoy people, have lots of energy, and love libraries. We will provide lots of training and support.
Required qualifications:

Great interpersonal skills with all ages - children, teens, and adults.

Some proficiency with social media, computers and other technology.

Experience developing and/or presenting programs for youth.

Some knowledge of current youth reading trends.

Ability to work days and evenings on a fixed schedule, approximately 20 hours per week.
Preferred but not required qualifications:

Experience with library circulation computer systems.

Previous experience with holding library story times, STEAM programming, and Summer Reading Club.
Responsibilities include:
Public Services and Technology
-
Provide excellent customer service at the main circulation desk.

Outreach to local schools and community organizations to promote programs and foster cooperation.

Assist community members with basic technology questions (computers, tablets, phones, etc.) and help with maintaining technology equipment such as copiers, etc.

Update the library’s social media presence. Training will be provided.
Youth Services

Create and present programming for children and teens, including pre-school story times. Develop activities specifically designed to appeal to teens.

Organize the Summer Reading Club, including scheduling performers, running programs, ordering prizes, and interacting with club participants

Keep up-to-date with trends in youth services and libraries.
Technical Services
-
With supervision, order and process books and other materials for the library’s collection.
